Description

This program offers an exciting and practical experience in STEM through sports innovation, specifically designed for primary and secondary school students. Participants will have a unique opportunity to interact and communicate with international peers from Japan, South Korea, and China, fostering global collaboration and cultural exchange. The program includes workshop sessions on designing insoles or shinpads using 3D printing, exploring AI analysis, and participating in sensor-based football matches. This initiative aims to spark interest in STEM careers by demonstrating real-world applications of technology in sports.

Phase 2: Design and Integration
Each participating school will design and integrate an insole equipped with sensors for their team.

Objectives of Phase 2

  • To provide students with the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills gained from Phase 1.
  • To guide students through the design process and the development of a prototype insole or shinpad using 3D printing technology.
  • To produce individually customized insoles or shinpads for each player, based on the unique shape and size of their feet.
  • To enhance students’ skills in integrating technologies such as sensors, embedded systems, and SportViz360 technology for real-time AI analysis.

Phase 2 Activities

Measurement and Design Customization

  • Each player will take measurements of their feet.
  • The measurement data will be used to create a customized insole or shinpad design tailored to the individual foot shape and size.
  • Students will use CAD software to adjust the design based on the collected data.
  • Facilitators will guide students to ensure the design is ergonomic and comfortable for each player.

Product Design

  • Students will create the insole or shinpad design using CAD software learned in Phase 1.
  • Each team will produce designs for every player on their team.
  • Facilitators will provide feedback and guidance to ensure the designs meet technical specifications.

3D Printing

  • Completed designs will be printed using 3D printers either at the respective schools or at UniMAP.
  • Students will learn the 3D printing process.
  • Each player will receive a specially printed insole or shinpad made specifically for them.

Integration, Testing, and Improvement

  • Each player will test their insole or shinpad to evaluate comfort, functionality, and design effectiveness.
  • Data collected from sensors and SportViz360 will be analyzed to assess product performance.
  • Based on the test results, students may make improvements to the design.
