''Advancing Circular Economy Towards Academic-Industrial Sustainability''

The Centre of Excellence for Biomass Utilization (CoEBU), Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) is pleased to announce that we will be hosting the 3rd International Conference on Biomass Utilization and Sustainable Energy 2023 (ICoBiomasSE 2023) on 4-5 September 2023 with the theme of “Advancing Circular Economy Towards Academic-Industrial Sustainability”.  The physical conference will held at World Trade Centre (WTC), Kuala Lumpur and will follow strict standard operating procedures to ensure a safe conference.  Participants who cannot come to Kuala Lumpur may explore the online option (info to be available soon).

The aim is to provide a platform to professionals, researchers, academicians and industries to share and generate interest in cutting-edge applications, challenges and issues in the area of biomass utilization and sustainable energy. The theme of the conference this year has been chosen in view of the current revolution and rapid developments in the field of biomass innovation towards sustainable development. Two special keynote speakers will be invited to share their ideas of the current trend in these emerging and important topics.

CoEBU was established in 2015 under the School of Bioprocess Engineering, UniMAP. The purpose of this centre is to focus on research involving the utilization of biomass, since it is located in Perlis, where the main agricultural crops are paddy, sugarcane, mango farms and teakwood among others. The establishment is in line with the 11th Malaysia Plan (2016-2020), Strategy 4 which is to pursue green growth for sustainability and resilience. This centre of excellence is well planned in the interest to enhance research culture in combining chemical engineering, agriculture, bioprocessing, biosystems and others to convert waste to wealth.

Objectives

  1. To bring together scientists, engineers and other industrial professionals to present their findings and discuss future trends, directions and new challenges for the biomass utilization and sustainable energy fields.

  2. To create a network among participants thus will benefit in terms of research collaborations and publications.

  3. To promote R&D activities and to provide a global forum of discussion for academicians, leading technologies and engineers.

  4. To discover various possibilities in realizing engineering and technology in biomass utilization and sustainable energy development towards practical and commercial utilization.

  5. To enhance the knowledge on advances technology and development through the provided keynote and technical sessions.
